Supposed you'd join a workshop at a conference, which may or may not be the . Would you – as a participant – prefer an ensemble working setup or would you rather work with your own computer?
Would pairing with other participants be OK for you?

Keep in mind that some folks will still be reluctant to get too close to others. There are enough vulnerable people who won't fancy to risk a COVID-19 infection 'just' because they're attending a workshop.

I've published another essay: With, Not For. If you've ever worked with me, you've heard me say it over and over again. This essay explains why: linkedin.com/pulse/with-not-fo

A short new blog post: 'Write Meaningful Error Messages in Automated Tests' ➙ seasidetesting.com/2023/02/14/. This *very likely* has been said before – and apparently needs to be said again.

ProTip: If you want a timer to altert you after, say, 15 minutes, it will not help if you set an alarm for 15:00 (i.e. 3 p.m.). — Unless it happens to be 14:45 in the afternoon.

People worry a lot about losing knowledge — about "burned-down libraries".

Comparatively few people seem to worry about what happens if you take a billion books full of auto-generated, often-untrue junk text and *add* them all to the library.

In theory, nothing is lost. In reality, everything is lost, because nothing useful can now be found.

Was hilft: Spazieren gehen, was anderes machen, jemanden fragen.

The question shouldn't be "Why do Black folk see racism in everything?"

The question should be "Why do white folk not see any of this?"

The answer to the better question is of course, that there is an information delta between "what Black folk know about racism" and "what white folk know about racism."

Racist people don't want you to know any of this stuff. Because some people, on reading this stuff, say, "Sounds bad. We should maybe change things to be less bad?"

Swimming 🌊🏊‍♂️🌊 again: ≈2min in 2°C water.
Incredible blues in the sky & water. Interestingly *in* the water it looked green (the water, not the sky 😀).
A great time anyway, whatever the colour. 😃

Seems to me that #Mastodon (& the other #Fediverse apps) represent a surprisingly sophisticated solution to a much more difficult technical & usability problem than what Twitter has attempted to address... & it was developed in half the time & with several orders of magnitude less resource (both people & money). It's a remarkable feat no matter how you look at it.

And, I need to add, much of its success is due to the concurrent development of #ActivityPub
